Classroom Holographic Connection

In a groundbreaking holographic lecture, Dr. Stacie Christensen from UNMC College of Allied Health Professions connected physical therapy students between Omaha and Kearney. Using iEXCEL’s advanced holographic and interactive wall technologies, students at both campuses were able to engage in the same class experience as if they were in one room together. This event marks a major step forward in transforming how education is delivered across Nebraska and showcases the power of immersive technology to bridge distance and bring learners together statewide.

Surgical Practice for Residents

The GME General Surgery session, led by Dr. Joshua Mammen and Dr. Janelle-Cheri Millen, provided hands-on training in mastectomy, axillary and groin operations for second year residents. The simulation offered an invaluable opportunity to refine surgical techniques and build confidence in a realistic training environment.

Nursing Acute Care Escape Room

The Nebraska Medicine Nursing acute care team brought learning to life with an interactive escape room experience focused on medical emergencies and infection prevention. New nurses practiced CAUTI and CLABSI prevention skills, responded to simulated patient scenarios, and engaged with the iWall for blood administration and chest tube training. Led by Karen Townsley, the session combined education, teamwork, and hands-on skill building to promote safe, high-quality patient care.

iWall Training with Paul Dye

iEXCEL will offer hands-on iWall and holographic box training in HSEC 214 on Nov. 13 (2:00–3:30 p.m.) and Nov. 14 (9:00–10:30 a.m.) at UNK. Faculty are encouraged to attend or share with colleagues. Additional sessions will be offered in the future.

Scary ENT Conference

iEXCEL recently hosted the Scary Cases Conference with the Department of Otolaryngology, where health care professionals and students shared rare and challenging cases across multiple specialties. The event fostered collaboration and discussion among physicians and advanced professionals about complex cases.

Elizabeth Baron Inducted into Simulation Hall of Fame

Elizabeth Baron, iEXCEL Consultant Senior Advisor, Intelligent Immersive Simulation, was induction into the National Center for Simulation (NCS) Hall of Fame. Please join us in celebrating this major accomplishment as we recognize Elizabeth's contributions to advancing simulation at iEXCEL and beyond!
